Riparian forests are the unique plant communities that occur along the banks of rivers, streams, and other freshwater bodies. Positioned at the interface between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, these forests play a vital role in regulating ecological processes, supporting biodiversity, and maintaining the overall health of watersheds. Their vegetation, often composed of moisture-loving trees, shrubs, climbers, and herbaceous species, stabilizes soil, filters runoff, sustains river hydrology, and provides habitat for a wide range of flora and fauna.
We are actively engaged in riparian ecosystem restoration with a strong focus on community participation and long-term ecological sustainability. At present, our team provides technical expertise and ecological guidance to the Vazhachal Forest Division for a large-scale riparian restoration initiative implemented through the MGNREGA scheme.
