The Hornbill Foundation successfully organized a two-day nature camp-based workshop at Vazhachal on 28th -29th December 2024, focusing on forest and hornbill conservation. The workshop brought together environmentalists, researchers, students, and local community members to raise awareness about the crucial role of hornbills in forest ecosystems and the importance of preserving their natural habitat.
During the workshop, participants engaged in various activities, including guided nature walks, birdwatching sessions, interactive discussions, and conservation talks led by experts. Special emphasis was placed on the ecological significance of hornbills as “forest gardeners”, their role in seed dispersal, and the threats they face due to habitat destruction. The initiative was a step forward in strengthening awareness and action towards safeguarding the rich biodiversity of Vazhachal, Hornbills and Riparian Forests.
