Dr. Maya M is a faculty in Sociology with research interest in the area of indigenous communities, ecology, conservation, health and development. Dr Maya’s doctoral study was to understand how the indigenous communities (scheduled tribes) negotiate with the process of participatory development with specific focus on the Kadar. She was part of a team doing a project ‘Continuing of Education for Disadvantaged Adolescents in South Asia’ which is funded by Center for Coordination of Research, International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU). Her teaching assignments in the university include Study of Indian Society, Corporate Social Responsibility, Public Health, Social Ecology, Sociology of Development and Qualitative Research. Apart from teaching, guidance and research, she also hold various leadership and coordination positions at the Department. Dr Maya has life membership in Kerala Sociological Society (KSS) and Indian Sociological Society (ISS) and is a member of International Sociological Association (ISA). Along with having an expertise in the blended teaching, she has demonstrated skills in planning online course curriculum, developing own open educational resources, assessment planning, rubrics preparation and online evaluation.
