Climate Change and Disaster Management

The drastic change in the global climate as a result of global warming in the anthropocene has started impacting the everyday weather pattern and life of the people across the globe These changes are reflected in the Western Ghats from its mountain tops to the coastal region as well. Our studies and long term monitoring provided data on species and ecosystems which reflected the changes happening to our landscape in this era of climate change. The concern is reflected in our actions to mitigate climate change while also engaging in ecological monitoring, ecosystem conservation, ecological predictions and ecorestoration. The information gathered and the facilities were extremely useful when the 2018 and 2019 floods hit our region and enabled us to effectively engage in rescue, rehabilitation, post flood studies and ongoing restoration of disaster hit zones.
