Anniversary Celebration of Coastal Ecorestoration

The success of our one year coastal restoration process in the four wards of Sree Narayanapuram Grama Panchayath was celebrated on 30th August 2022. It has been a year where Sree Narayanapuram Grama Panchayath in collaboration with Western Ghats Hornbill Foundation implements the restoration of coastal zones by the involvement of women in MGNREGA scheme. The annual conference of the project and the inauguration of the second phase of the project was inaugurated by P.K. Devis Master (President, District Panchayath, Thrissur) at MES Asmabi College. Panchayath President Mr. M.S. Mohanan presided over the function and Dr. A. Biju, Principal MES Asmabi College was the chief guest. The inauguration also mentioned that the Panchayat's project is a model project for combating climate change and combining employment for the local community especially for women. The Panchayath President gave an introduction about the importance of the project and its environmental goals, women's participation and sustainable living. Dr. Amitha Bachan, who is leading the project, gave a detailed presentation of the one-year operation of the project. About 25 women who are successfully carrying out ecosystem restoration of coastal vegetation belt through the MGNREGA scheme were honored. Panchayat Vice-President welcomed the event and Chairman Development Standing Committee Mr. A. Ayoob felicitated the function in the prescence of other ward members of the Panchayath. The students and teachers of the MES Asmabi College was also a part of the programme.
